Volunteer

We need your help... in any fashion that you can give.  We can especially use volunteers to help with the following:

  • Spotters
    • Cat Spotters - people who will be on the lookout for campus cats that we have not noticed.  Upon a campus cat's spay or neuter, we have an identifying "notch" placed into the cats ear.  If you see an adult cat without this notch, or you see kittens please contact one of our members and tell us where and when you saw the cat.
    • Animal Dumping Spotters - If you see someone "dump" off any animal on campus, please get a license number if possible, and contact one of our members and tell us where and when you saw the animal.  "Dumping" is illegal.
  • Waysiders
    • A waysider is a person who is willing to take in a cat, temporarily, and help to socialize the animal so that it has a better chance of adoption.  Kittens are our first priority, but we may also have adult cats that might be able to be adopted out as well.
  • Feeders
    • We need help with the day-to-day colony feeding around campus.  What works successfully is to find a small group of people willing to rotate the feeding task within the group.  The group "adopts" a colony near their offices and each person is assigned a week to be responsible for the task.  The old saying "many hands make light work" really does work for this assignment.
  • Trappers
    • There is a small core group of people that trap the cats so that the cats can be evaluated and be provided with veterinary care.  This is one of the more emotionally draining tasks, but often very rewarding.  We'd like to increase the "core".
  • Spokespeople
    • Not the official spokesperson kind, but people who will help to educate the public any time false statements are made about feral cats and animals in general.  We need people who will promote spaying and neutering of all cats and dogs.
