Who we are We
are a volunteer group of Bakersfield College employees, students, and community members who
work to provide long-term care
and management of feral cats at the Bakersfield Community College campus in
Bakersfield California, USA. Our program is modeled after
numerous successful programs at other educational
institutions around the United States.
Our mission:
-
To
humanely capture the campus feral cats, identify them, test them for
infectious diseases, vaccinate them, provide spay/neuter, and release them
to their capture location for care and maintenance by designated Campus Cat
Coalition (CCC) caregivers.
-
To
establish and maintain feeding locations where CCC volunteers provide
regular meals and observe the feral cats.
-
To
provide foster care and rehabilitation of kittens and socialized adult cats.
These cats will then be adopted out to carefully screened owners.
-
To
promote community awareness of animal population issues and promote
responsible pet ownership.
-
To work closely
with the campus administration to provide an environment that allows for the
humane treatment of the campus cats while providing some relief to campus
grounds personnel. The goal is to provide a "win-win" relationship.
